Clean water - at last

Recommended Posts

My cage fighters are a messy nightmare. I was changing their water 2 or 3 times a day. They would fill it with straw, food, poop, mud. I have just however purchased a brilliant drinker called "wet a chook"

On the right. There is a constant flow of water which doesn't overflow because of the tongue thing. Girls took to it straight away. I didn't have to fill it up for 3 days.

I have just ordered the feeder too. Called "dine a chook" as the girls seem to like decorating with their food

Postage is quite high because they come from Australia, but I would deffo recommend. :D

Oooooh! I remember seeing those online, but I'm guessing that at 3.5 litres it'd be too tall to fit in an Eglu Classic-type run?

I have had issues with mine leaping onto, and into, my Glug and using it as a foot-bath

We have provided them with one of those standard inverted bottle drinkers you give bunnies or g-pigs as a back up should they tip their water right over. Seems to work.

That would be fine if the ex caged girls were a bit less messy. My other girls have gravity feeders and drinkers, and my small girls have glugs. No problems there. Also the cage fighters don't have much room in their coop and the gravity feeders took up loads of room. These tube type feeders, which fit on the wire, take up hardly any room :)

I'm not sure. I'm still using mine it hasn't frozen yet. I think if you keep it full, the gravity of the water might help to prevent it.

Just got my feed a chook today. When I too the old feeder away, there was mould behind it, hasn't been there that long. Hoping it will stop them decorating their coop with food  they are messy little devils
