Chickabee
I did the dance, the song, the ooh what a clever girl. Dazzle, my lavender pekin frizzle, laid her first egg. Now, I have fifi - white silkie 2 1/2 just off broody, and twinkle POL red partridge silkie, in the same run. I'm currently feeding them all growers, with layers available too. Do you think this is ok. Didn't expect any eggs til spring. Dazzle is so tiny and I think her egg was actually quite big for a firsty. They get sunflower seeds. Fifi demands s"Ooops, word censored!"s when I give them to the big girls and they get a little split corn before bed. Got second egg today . I now have about 30 eggs as none of mine seem to want to give up laying. Lucky neighbors will be getting visits today. They're not having Dazzles eggs though
Chortle Chook
Well done that wee Dazzle Other more experineced keepers may say more, bit I feel sure I've read that feeding growers through a chook's first winter is no bad thing.
