WitchHazel
I have a house hen at the moment, and I want to try her on some mash instead of pellets. Last night, all I could get hold of was a 5kg bag of Dodson and Horrell mash. When I opened it, I was shocked to find that it's actually all powder. I was expecting it to be more...well...bitty. Like small flakes, or like mixed corn. Or like Garvo's mash. House chicken tried a couple of beaks-full and then rejected it. If I buy Smallholder layers mah, or Smallholder ex-battery mash, will I find the same thing?
Lydia
I use the ex-bat crumb for all of mine. It's not powdery, more grainy perhaps. We're not far away so, if you like, you can try some of ours before you decide whether or not to get some?
WitchHazel
Thanks Lydia, and thank you for the kind offer. I'm going to order a bag I think, and see whether she'll eat it. If not, the others can have it as porridge when it's cold.
Lavenders_Blue
Smallholder mash (I think they call it meal?) is like a crumb. It's not powdery like mash, but it's not flakes either. It's somewhere in the middle I guess!
