Our house is on the market so hopefully moving house soon.

 

Would it be best to worm the chickens before or after the move do you think? Or maybe worm when they are due to be wormed (May) then worm again a couple of days after the move (assuming the move is in June)?

Not sure really, but if it were me I'd just do it normally and then perhaps a bit earlier after the move, maybe

when you've been there a month or so. But it would be interesting to know for future reference though. Yup coooeeeeee experts!!!

I would worm earlier rather than later. With moving you need to get a 7 day window where they are undisturbed during the course. Moving is stressful and they can best deal with that stress in full health, that is without a worm burden. Not sure why you would repeat the treatment so soon though MrsB? Repeat worming is unnecessary unless you are treating a flock with a major problem, in which case it would be three weeks later. There is no need to worm after the move and I wouldn't advise it anyway. They need to settle and that will take a good two weeks.

ooooh - moving house Mrs_B - how exciting....... Will you be taking the big WIR with you or starting again? I think worm before you go, stalosan the ground they are moving on to and then repeat a few months later if you are worried/they show signs, if not wait til 6 months? I get you think they might pick up worms from the new place.....

Ermm Good Egg there are 2 Mrs Bs on this forum you may be thinking of the other one . However I do intend to take my WIR with me unless my buyers request I leave it behind for them. The plastic roof needs to be replaced anyway as leaks now so will be as much use as a chocolate teapot after being taken part.

Good luck with the move, Mrs B I've never moved house with my chickens (just a cat, and that was stressful enough!) Hope you all settle in to your new place quickly.
