Charlottechicken
Thought I would share this with you all, in case any of you are near enough to visit over Easter. OH and I went last Friday and had a great time. Such a fabulously historical place and so atmospheric! pics of Kenilworth Castle I managed to take over 100 photos, so it was a struggle whittling it down to a reasonable amount
patsylabrador
That's somewhere I've always meant to go, your pictures have inspired me to crack on and go especially as we have EH membership. I dont like large numbers of school groups so maybe a weekend or holiday time would be better in this case. I generally try to visit places during the week. Charlottechicken
That's somewhere I've always meant to go Oh, you must pay a visit, patsylabrador! It is huge and will take an age to get round. There are little doorways and secret bits everywhere. We squeezed through a very low doorway from the outside of one of the huge towers, to find ourselves looking up into what were the medieval toilets The Elizabethan garden is all scented plants and flowers, and the huge two tier birdcage is full of canaries, singing away. It really is a great place to visit if you like your ruins!
Leicester_H
We're members and have been several times - often take visitors there (especially Americans who are blown away). There's a pub in the village (http://www.clarendonarmspub.co.uk/) which did really nice food at reasonable prices. H
