mollyripkim
Was given this chick as a day old to keep my little lone duckling company, was told its a rare large fowl but not much bigger than an average bantam. Have been asked to post regular photos on Facebook for "guess the breed". Any ideas anyone? Think its a boy as it is just over 2 weeks old and already getting double comb. SueChick
Hi - I am in no way a breed expert as I only have hybrids but that sure looks like a Geeno blue to me! Also known as duchess blue - they are a cross breed from the aracauna and white star (although that varies from breeder to breeder). The fan tail is exactly like my geeno's but she barely has a comb still and she is 5 months old so it could be that you have a rooster there. The roosters the same age as my geeno's girl all had combs at 15 weeks when we got her from the breeders but the ladies had none at all. Of course I may be completely wrong and there could be a pure breed with a fan tail like that and a larger comb in the ladies. Hopefully someone else can help too soon. Good luck! Egluntyne
It does look very male for such a youngster.
Beantree
Possibly a White Leghorn derivative Mollyripkim? I say that because it looks like our bantam cockerels did at that age with the same upright stance and comb development. They started crowing at 4 weeks! Space Chick
Without question a boy. No clue on breed though.
