Yet another question from new mum

Recommended Posts

Sorry about this. Couldn't find the answer on google. I have kept mum and the chicks in the omlet housing and blocked their access to the run. When can they go in the run? Should I put extra food and water in the run, and should I make it smaller. I've got some mesh to put around the bottom so they can't escape through holes :)

I let mine out once the last chick is 24 hrs old but depending on the broody it can take 24 hrs before the go out

I move the food and water out into the run when I let the out but with my set up I have to as the feeders block the pop hole the run size should be ok as they won't go far for a few days any way after that they'll need the room

mine get to FR with the mob from a few days old the present lot are 3 weeks old today and do roam quite a distance but they are bit more advanced for their age temperament wise than normal which is a worry at times

I've lost track of where we are, but your chicks must be at least 4 or 5 days old? If so, they can go out now with Mum :D

I do put extra feed/water stations out but its not really necessary. If you put a station very near the run door, you can put your hand in and swipe a chick for a cuddle/examination if necessary :D
