Sentiant
Hi there I'm probably going to sound like a paranoid chicken keeper here but I have to ask. My bluebell makes an odd cluck, its more of a krawwk (single syllable). Is this normal, should all chickens do the two syllable sound buc-gar that we all know and love? jimnpaula
My Sussex make a deep 'bloff' sound, Hen Solo goes 'meep' but can also do 'bloff', and the Skyline & the Legbar make a most peculiar moany sound like a cross between 'moo' and 'meow'! The others go ' bok '. Edit: and the Legbar goes' kraawwk' too

Lavenders_Blue
This is a funny thread! Do anyone else's hens do the 'dial up modem' sound when they are just pootling around being happy? It's such a cute sound! We also get 'meep' (curious noise), 'bok bok bok' (descending in pitch) when anxious, and 'bok bok bok BOK BOK BOK BWAAAAAAAAAARK' when there is important news to announce! jimnpaula
Since my last post in this thread Hen Solo has developed a new repertoire of noises to express her displeasure at the new ex-colony birds!
Sentiant
Hehehe, can we post sound bites on the forum. It would be excellent to have a library of voices (and their assumed meaning real or fake) to here and compare.
Pottage
My Pecky makes the same noise a train horn makes when it is about to enter a tunnel You can hear her coming a mile off!
