Is it just me as an old fogy or is this 'download an app' business going too far. My 93 year old mother was recently told by her electricity board that she had to 'download an app' to provide her meter readings from now on.

It's a bit of a control thing isn't it. Only way is to insist on doing it conventionally because she hasn't the facility to download anything on anywhere - see what they do then. Or ask them to provide the means for her to do it! Free computer or mobile harrr!!!

I think it is a greed thing - large companies cutting back on customer centre staff. The trouble is it assumes everyone is the same and gradually it is cutting out the elderly (and in many cases the less able or less financially well off) and reducing their independence even further than happens naturally. It seems so unkind.
