Confused over mod podge.

Recommended Posts

Can you tell I'm looking for a new hobby  first yoyo's now mod podge.

In my local(ish) craft shop they were selling little moulds and plastic tubes of colour, clear or white that you put into a glue gun to melt it and then pop it in the moulds. They told me it was called mod podge.

But in my really local shop that doesn't sell much, the man told me that mod podge was some kind of gluey varnish stuff that stuck and made things shiny at the same time.

Please can someone explain ?

I don't really need a new hobby - just bought some beautiful Christmas paper from Hobbycraft and some new cutters to go in my Cuttlebug

I have mod podge that is a thin sort of PVA glue used for decoupage / decopatch. I use serviettes to decorate boxes etc. The stuff you are describing might actually be wax sticks. They are a bit like the wax sticks used for making wax seals on envelopes, but you put them in a glue gun. These days you can splodge it in moulds to make 3D decorations. I have a feeling I've seen it on create & craft (tv) or Ideal World as a demo / kit.

Just a warning ... decopatch (with Mod Podge or anything else) is seriously addictive ... I spent a ridiculous amount of time decopatching yesterday (my excuse was that whilst I should have been cutting the lawn, it was far too wet for that ...:wink: )

You have been warned!!!!

At least it is a healthy addiction  and surely not as expensive as chickens ?

Off to get some bits and pieces tomorrow hopefully.

Only a few days of the Summer holidays left, so need to get down to something ready for the gloomy days ahead - today and yesterday being particularly Autumnal :(

I couldn't possibly comment about the cost of either Decopatch or chickens :eh::shh::oops::wink:

You can make some LOVELY stuff with Decopatch - I've always got a box of tissues on my desk, so I Decopatched a box for those over the weekend, I'm quite pleased with it and lots of people have asked already where I got it from (should make sure to tell them I'm available for commissions!!!!!)

Let us know what you buy and how you get on with it!!!!
