SueChick
I was tempted by this ornate plantar today and couldn't resist buying it for my ladies! Not spoilt at all! My mad thought process was that it would look lovely but also supply a good way for them to peck at a plant but not be able to dig out the roots - only problem is that I don't know what to grow out of it! Something quite fast growing I guess and something that they love to eat of course! Any ideas please?
Luvachicken
Nice pot You could try some cut and come again lettuce in it, but you'd have to start it off away from them in the first place. Let us know what they like.
Cat tails
Maybe something like garden cress? Or quick sprouters like sun flowers?
SueChick
Thanks a lot for your suggestions - I hadn't though of cut/grow again lettuce - is that what it's called in the shops? Sunflower seeds sound interesting too - did you mean planting the seeds and letting them eat the shoots or growing them on a lot further? I did think of cress as that is very quick - do they like cress? Thanks for your help.
Cat tails
Don't know about cress, but mine did quite like to eat the sprouts of the sunflowers. They don't bother with the sunflower seeds though... Those are now for the blue tits that visit my garden.
