clucker1
We have 8 girlies in a walk in run with cube attached. Also within the cube is their food which is stored in a dustbin. So.... this morning I went to top up their food and do my morning check to find the dustbin lid of their feed bin upside down on the bin. Funny I thought....can't remember leaving it like that...anyway....went to turn it up the right way and to my great surprise I found Annie, our greediest chicken in there! Sitting right on top of the layers pellets sack...anyway it took her no time to fly out and she promptly went up the ramp to lay an egg. So yesterday, I put the girls in from their free ranging about 3pm...so sometime after that she must have decided to ?take advantage of the bin lid not being on properly/? opened it herself or something or other then got stuck and camped out overnight in it. Luckily I had folded over the nearly finished sack so she hadn't eaten any pellets, nor had she worked out out to open the tin of corn in there. She had worked out how to poo over everything though, never mind and she is none the worse (apart from being hungry) for her overnight stay in a dustbin! What a rascal chicken! Ain't Nobody Here
Silly girl . She probably just went into roosting mode so wouldn't have thought anything of it .
redsunset
That's so funny! People say chooks have a pea for a brain but some just amaze you with their antics! Now she's worked it out a stone on the lid is called for
clucker1
Well, so far so good....she is a clever chicken as no reoccurrence last night.....but perhaps she realised the bin was empty as I emptied it all out into bin no 2! Cat tails
I left a plastic bag with some cut up endive outside (it's just about the same temperature as in my fridge anyway and I was lazy). I now only have a plastic bag. Endive disappeared...
