Eggasperated
I'm about to make some coffee walnut chocolates as part of a Christmas present and the recipe uses coffee essence, OH said 'don't buy that horrible Camp stuff', what other sort is there? Can I just use some dissolved coffee granules? And what has OH got against Camp coffee .
Cat tails
In Holland you can buy coffee essence like vanilla and almond essence. But I have made deserts using dissolvable coffee too. I think I used Nescafe espresso powder...
Olly
You can just dissolve instant coffee in a tiny amount of boiling water, but Camp coffee is much much better. It's disgusting as a drink, but I always use it in cakes or puddings where it works brilliantly - perhaps your OH has tried actually using it to make a drink? Definitely not recommended. Eggasperated
Tesco have coffee extract, which I think may be too strong, so I will use some diluted coffee granules. However, on closer interrogation, it appears you are right Olly OH said his Mum used to make it for him as a drink and he said it was disgusting. On reflection I don't know why I was surprised as over the years there have been many things which OH says he hates which his mum had cooked and when I've cooked them he changed his mind, in particular roast parsnips which he really loves now.
