Well, the training regime seems to be going well. The girls are learning their names and to be patient at the same time.

Are we mad or is this a common thing?

We suffer the same problem if we leave the back door open the girls "quietly" walk past us as if we couldn't see them and then start eating out of the cats bowl, sometimes with the poor cats looking on

They're luckily not getting that far! They don't trust my little idiot cat...

But they do poop on the floor, when you are just about to chase them out of the house again...

Chickens are incredibly easy to train in respect of food. Anything else can be rather more difficult.

 

Ours are all trained to come to a rattle of the grain scoop, to signify mixed grain is about to be served. They go crazy and we have previously had one heart attack from over-excitement. They are trained like this for the simple reason that if any escape they can be easily rounded up. The sound of the scoop travels a long way. Unfortunately they soon realise that anything we are eating is probably edible to them as well. Our pet cockerel jumped up and took a fish finger off my plate once!

 

Works for sheep as well.

Winnie now jumps on my arm to cue. The others are a little less trained lol. I got given the book 100 ways for a Chicken to train it's Human for Xmas. Still to read it.
