Knitters: KnitPro or Addi click interchangable?

Recommended Posts

I'm considering interchangable circular needles and wondering if there is any experience of these brands out there in Omlet-land?

I'm wondering if Knitpros are quite sharp and Addis less so? Are the knitpro wood or acrylic needles as slippery as metal? I am still a novice and I knit continental style, my bamboo straight needles are sharp and I have some metal that are less so, but I'm not sure which material/sharpness I prefer.

And of course I'm trying not to spend too much money deciding :| Any thoughts appreciated.

Ooh - I'm  too stingy to splash out on these, I just use the metal ones or DPNs but I would love to try the bamboo ones. I think it's a very personal thing, some people prefer sharp, some less so and it depends on the feel of them in your hand. Is there a wool shop where you could go and handle them to get an idea?

If I were going to spend out, I'd probably go for the KnitPro bamboo because I've heard that bamboo is very pleasing and comfortable to knit with. If you knit a lot, it's probably cheaper in the long run than buying separate needles piecemeal.

This is why I'm trying to work out what I want before I build up a collection! Nan's needles that I inherited are a right mix and my mums has a collection that is extensive but mostly metal and possibly some plastic.

I'm veering towards the knitpro as they have quite an assortment of different tips: bamboo, short metal, long metal, acrylic, cubic (square cross section - apparently easier to hold) and coloured birch (I love these :anxious: ) I figure that as you can knit flat or circular on these they could be used for everything.

Well, purely in the interests of research and not because I'm lusting after a set of these myself, :liar: I see that LoveKnitting do a 'sampler' set - click precisely so that you can try out the different sorts. Might be one way to start a collection, then you could add the needle tips you prefer a few at a time.
