clucker1
Just had to tell someone about my lunch....was using up a nice piece of thick ham, was going to do a toasted sandwich with the ham and some grated cheddar, then saw some stilton in the fridge and thought I'd try that, so grated it over the ham, popped it in the oven for 5 mins or so to melt, result....DELICIOUS! kinsk
Yum. All our Christmas stilton has gone. My favourite toastie is some nice ham, a smear of mustard, a drizzle of honey and some brie. The dip the sandwich in beaten egg and fry in butter. So basically you have an eggy bread toastie. It's become our New Years day brunch staple
clucker1
Hmm, that sounds like YUM too, will try that on Thursday.....have to use those eggs some how or other. Sorry those of you who are without eggs at the moment
bluekarin
I do various toasties in a frying pan. I butter the outside of the bread and then fill with whatever the kids want. Done tuna and sweet corn with cheese, ham with spring onion or red onion tomato and cheese, the best has to be mozzarella with tomato and tom purée spring onions and salami. I put the sandwich together and gently fry until outside is cripsy brown and the inside middle in hot and melty
Olly
I use my George Foreman grill for toasted sandwiches, you can do them without any fat. Haven't tried the ham and Stilton one yet but i like the sound of it - however I love Stilton so much that I'm not sure I could spare any for sandwiches! chickencam
My YD takes a cheese and ham sandwich to school where she now has access to a toaster (the joys of year 11) she puts it in a toaster bag and it comes out yummy. She has no butter Mayo or anything else except a slice of cheese and a slice of ham. It sort of toasts the outside and steams the middle

redhotchick
Hi, I am revisiting past posts. This reminds me, I have just bought a new toaster, and some "toastabags". OH pointed out this morning "what is the point when you never buy any bread!" I will make a point of getting bread and ham and Stilton this weekend! x
