Valkyrie Posted March 30, 2015 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Rang for an appointment for Tipsy - she's wheezing again - at 3 pm. I had an appointment for 5.40! Vet very impressed with the lovely big old bird. Not me. He was quite taken with her, and after I'd scrambled for half an hour around the garden dragging myself through shrubs and fighting that bramble that had no business being there at all and the darned thing attacked me - I managed to grab her in the greenhouse. I told the vet she's flighty. She performed like a perfect little lady for him - she even stayed on the scales without jumping off and yelling. They do make you look like liars! So verdict was perhaps she was allergic, or perhaps she had an infection. Either way she has a snotty nose and ended up with Baytril. Now where have I heard that name before? So she's had one dose quite easily. It won't be easy tomorrow I can tell you! She's a clever little minx!!! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Our allergy cases used to dry sneeze a lot and were not wheezy. Problems arise every year from tree pollen and we give the birds a shot of cod liver oil with multivitamins to boost their immune system (0.5mL per Kg bodyweight once only) which seems to be quite effective. My guess is that if you were paying for a private GP consultation they would fit you in that day. Vets are private so appoinements are usually readily available. In my area you have to wait at least two weeks for a booked Appointment or suffer the indignity of the "open access clinic" where you turn up between set hours and wait to be fitted in a two hour wait isn't unusual Anyway....I hope your flighty lady makes a fast recovery Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Quickest I was seen was for a broken ankle and whoosh paramedics in ten minutes. Our part timer docs here will see you sometime in about 10 days if you ring for an appointment. Emergency clinic - well you have to get in before everyone else or you miss out that too. Anyhow, this morning, cube open from the back - hah girls weren't expecting that! Grabbed Tips, let the others out. Got her in the best half Nelson possible and I still ended up with it on my hair. But some went in. She was most indignant but scoffed all the pine nuts that were offered as a sneaky treat. 7 days to go and perhaps she's going to be resigned to it being a regular morning thing whether she likes it or not.
