clucker1
Has anyone got a steam oven? My present oven has just died v inconveniently just a few weeks ahead of us having our kitchen redone. I am looking at Neff and Siemens who have just brought out new ranges, I know they are one and the same company, but it is all so new, the kitchen shops haven't got them in yet. Steam ovens seem to be the new thing and just wondered what anyone thinks. also looking at a combo microwave oven. So possibly a steam oven and then a larger combo main oven. There's too much to choose from and its all too confusing except I want pyroclean ( no more oven cleaning.)

Olly
Sorry, never had one and I had to Google it to see what it is - and I'm still not sure! I mainly use my oven for baking and I'm not sure I'd use one of these. I highly recommend a combi microwave though. I bought one earlier this year and use it all the time. That's partly because I live on my own and it never seemed worth firing up the whole oven to do a jacket spud - if you have a family and you frequently cook roast dinners and meals with lots of ingredients then maybe the steam oven would be useful. I hope someone else posts on here as I'd love to know a bit more about them!
clucker1
Thank you Olly. Yes, a busy family here with family and friends always being cooked for! I've looked at both the Siemens and Neff you tube videos and not surprisingly they say how marvellous these new gadgets are. They are combinations too, so have a grill, microwave , normal oven and steam oven all in the one. I am thinking about getting something like that plus a warming drawer. Fortunately there is a Neff demo day near me in a few weeks time, but I am really after what people think of them. Ideally I want to order a new oven today as at present I only have a tiny oven and the thermostat has a mind of its own! I've even had to buy quiches which makes no sense as I have my fab chickens with their lovely eggs!
Daphne
Well I don't know about steam ovens either, sorry But we do have the pyroclean on our oven, and although its not the answer to absolutely everything (the glass door is not pristine and it does stink a bit whilst you have it switched on, if you have left it a long time between cleans or have a lot of grease from roasts, so we do it overnight) I can't remember the last time I had an oven-clean related strop
WitchHazel
If you don't mind paying, you can attend a Miele steam oven course. That will at least help you experience them, and then you can compare the features perhaps? They do several steam courses, probably the "pre purchase" ones might be the most useful http://www.miele.co.uk/cookingcourses/#tab-Prepurchase
Valkyrie
My neighbour has a Miele. She uses it an awful lot because she loves it so much. It does cost a bit though! She already knew that's what she wanted before she had her extension and new kitchen!
