Janepie33
Anyone know anything much about phone contracts? DS bought a contract from EE with the agreement that he would be able to use his phone in Australia when he was going to leave a few months later. When he informed them he was leaving for Australia, they told him that they were unable to honour the agreement re using his phone in Australia as the service was no longer available and that he would have to buy out of his contract at the cost of over £300. Unfortunately he had nothing in writing and no named person he had had the discussion with. DS has now been in Oz for nearly 3 months and 2 letters have arrived demanding money and threatening reports to Credit Reference Agencies. DS is adamant he will not pay due to the wrong advice and EE are just demanding loads of money. I spoke to someone at EE today who said he was unable to tell me anything about the contract due to data protection. I told them that as I was the one who would probably end up paying the wretched bill, they needed to talk to me, but they wouldn't budge. DS is rather unhelpfully ignoring the situation. Ultimately, EE will pass on the debt to a credit agency. I have watched 'The bailiffs are coming'. Am now extremely worried! Anyone else been in a similar situation? Leicester_H
Hi can't help directly, but try this forum http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/index.php find the appropriate section and post your query. They helped me with a gym contract problem - I was so impressed that I then made them a donation. H

Lewis
They should be able to pull the original sales call, it can be a bit of a hassle tracing the agent but if you insist they will do it - if the call says what your son thinks then they would normally have to honour it. If you ring up as the account holder and can pass the Data Protection questions they will speak to you. Make sure you say you want to open a Complaint on the account which they will have to take seriously - in my experience it helps to shout about the complaint on social media so get it resolved quickly Good luck
