Legoland Windsor

Recommended Posts

I am going there next week for a couple of days with my parents & the boys-OH has to work.

Any insider tips on what to go on/avoid etc?

Alihodg & I were getting quite excited as we thought the Blenhelm Palace get together was Sat 1st Sept, as we are travelling home that day & we thought we could have met you all!

I even dreamt about an Omlet get together that happened in my church hall last night ( & the cakes the catering team provided were lovely!)

Layla and I went there in Saturday Jules! It was unplanned. We happened to be in the area and some people on the campsite presented us with a vouchers getting Layla in for free so I though - why not?

Layla is 6 and she loved it all!

We discussed the fact that it cost a lot of money (£33 for me) so we were only going to do the things that were free (there are a few things you can opt to pay for) AND we steered clear of the shop and took a picnic.

Tip - there are lockers where you could stash a picnic if you don't want to carry it (not sure if they get grabbed early though - we carried our food and ate while queueing). The lockers cost a pound non-refundable so beware of putting anythiing in that you might need to get out as you will have to pay again.

Layla wanted to do RIDES so we did not do anything lego like.

The first area we got to was Land of the Vikings. I did not realise that this has only just opened and we duly queued for the river thing for an hour and half  - I think it was popular because it was new...grrrr. Later on the queues for it died down so you may want to keep that in mind.

If you have waterproofs take them even if its not raining - there are lots of ways to get wet. Or be prepared to spend £2 or £2.99 each for a plastic cape thing.

The Dragon is ace and Layla had lots of repeat rides. She also loved the Driving school (real traffic lights and roundabouts and no parents to spoil the fun).

Oh and it closes at 7.00 but most of the rides stay open until 7.00, so don't leave at 6.30 thinking you won't get on rides. If you time it right get on your favourite ride near closing time and you might be able to stay on and go round again as the queue will have gone.

We did not get to do everything but we will go again next holidays (after sorting out Tesco vouchers). We were shattered when we eventually got home (at nearly 10.00pm!)

Oh yes - make sure that any vouchers you have are valid for the day you go - the lady in front of me was in tears because hers weren't and she had to pay full price (very steep)

Hi Jules,

Just a thought but we've been a couple of times and I would recommend paying extra (£5 from memory) to park in the area closest to the entrance. The first time we went it was dark when we came out and it was no fun wandering up and down pressing the remote for the car hoping to see our lights come on. It's also a lot quicker to get out, they had a priority scheme running when we did it last year.

I agree with taking your own food, it seemed expensive and the queues for food and seats were dreadful.

Apart from that we've had a great time whenever we've been We've never paid, Tesco do a good scheme where you get points for your shopping which can be exchanged for entry vouchers.

Hope you all have a good time,

Lucy

Legoland is sooo pretty for a theme park and a really good day out for younger kids(my boys have sadly outgrown the place) as with all theme parks get there early and go straight to the ride you most want to go on, the food there is expensive but definitely better than other theme parks, (there is Movenpick ice-cream!!!!!!) and the queue amusements stop kids from going mental. Have a great day!

Sarah I did some research on the internet before I went. I found the unofficial guide to Legoland, which told of a route to it which avoided Windsor completely, & we went via the M4 junction 8/9, & then down Ascot Road, Drift Road & then voila- Legoland with no traffic jams :D The distance we travelled was further, since our hotel was at junction 4 of the M4, but we had no annoying traffic jams.

We also looked at how big the queues were for the rides, how many the ride could accommodate at one time & so minimised our time queueing. We took our own food in the park- Ethan's buggy came in very handy, & only spent a bit of money on some Lego fridge magnets & ice cube trays  and the boys had an ice cream. I certainly won't be going back for a long time- maybe not ever,(the drive is so long from here) but we all had a brill time

I just need to get Alexander to like big rides- I love them- so we can go to Alton Towers :lol::lol:
