Grandmashazzie
I am absolutely amazed to discover something that was news to me. I have used decaf tea for years without really thinking about how the tea was decaffeinated. Apparently there are two methods, one which is harmless and uses CO2 or water and an other which uses dichloromethane,a carcinogen, which leaves a trace on the tea. I will be switching to organic decaf from now on.
mullethunter
You could try Red Bush tea which is naturally caffeine free. Alternatively I saw a tattoo today that said 'death before decaf'!

Not good. Will look into the other teas now as we have been using Yorkshire tea for a while. Thanks again Grandmashazzie
CatieB
sorry if this is a daft question, but how do you know which is which - or is it only organic decaf that is done in the safe way?
Grandmashazzie
Hi Catie B apparently you can email and ask what method they use.I am assuming the own brand supermarket I used was using cheaper methods as tea was cheap. I tried looking some up on the various websites but it is not very clear.
Grandmashazzie
On sites I looked at Twinings and Clipper used safer methods so I have gone with Clipper. It seems hard to find Twinings here.
