patsylabrador
Do you love or hate them? I mean the actual towns rather than the coast around them. I love the sea and cliffs and rockpools and so on but I'm a real hater of seaside resorts. Which ones do you like and why? I find it hard to explain why I dislike them but my heart sinks when I get closer. OH grew up in Margate and he loves them so I have to bite the bullet and visit them occasionally otherwise that would be mean.
soapdragon
Depends on the resort....some now seem to have gone down the amusement arcade/crazy golf/all pervading aroma of greasy fish and chips and, not wishing to be rude, appear a bit run down. Some, though, are lovely and still retain character! Horses for courses, I guess!
Olly
Perhaps it depends if you're brought up with them. Southend-on-Sea was a rare treat when I was a child, but something about those shops selling windmills and buckets and spades, and the slot machine arcades and chip shops always excites me. My parents preferred more sedate places such as Aldeburgh or Southwold, now I love them too but as a child they just didn't have that extra 'zing' of the more tacky resorts!
