AndyRoo
Forgot to admire your lovely cats in my last reply. Andyroo I also wanted to say if you and your partner are considering adoption go for it.It looks as though you have a lovely home to offer. We have adopted and are fostering 4 boys and it is amazing. Win ,win situation all round. If you haven't already seen it Martin Newland had a lovely article in Daily Mail in June. It certainly resonated with me,all the reasons we foster. Also fostering to consider, there is such a nationwide shortage of carers. Thank you! I'd quite like to, but I think Rich is little more daunted by the prospect; I think he's perfectly happy when we look after the niece and nephew and can hand them back after. I love those kids with all my heart, but I'd quite like to be a father too. I think there's so many kids that desperately need good homes and to know someone out there cares about them. I think part of the reason I want to do it is because I didn't have the greatest childhood myself: my mother passed away when I was ten and my father was, frankly, too immature to have had kids and he was generally pretty feckless and wasn't really around much. I'm afraid I personally can't bring myself to read the Daily Mail - but I've been doing lots of reading about adoption elsewhere. I think the application process sounded pretty nerve racking - and somewhat intrusive! - although I do understand why. A couple of my friends have just adopted twin boys, so I'm feeling slightly envious of them. I have also considered fostering but I think I'd find it too emotionally draining if kids I'd become really attached to moved on quickly. Maybe I'm a control freak, but I like the idea of kids being a 'forever' thing. I've also thought about surrogacy - but the laws in the UK are a little less than rock solid, shall we say, and you can find yourself in 'interesting' custody situations!
