Mikegm
Firstly I am sure this question has been asked many a time so I apologise. Just put together a Cube with 4m run on grass. Not yet chosen the girls. I know the grass will not last too long. On reading, I do like the description of Aubiose, being easily compostable (a bonus) I guess Easichick is similar...Could I use Aubiose (or either) in nest box, or should I use something softer?....thoughts please... Cat tails
I use woodchips in my nestbox. Softness is definitely not something that is required. One of my current hens actually chucks out all woodchips and they even lay in the nestbox without anything. Aubiose or easichick both would be fine. The Dogmother
I use Aubiose in the nest box. Easichick is made from shredded wood (rumour has it wooden pallets) so it is harder than Aubiose and less absorbent. As said in another thread, I usually use Aubiose, but in the winter when the birds are in the run 24/7 (Defra prevention zone) then I cut the Aubiose in the run with Easichick to give it more air and prevent it from packing down
