Chick Chick
Hello, looking for advice on what to feed my cockerel please? At the moment I am feeding growers but not sure what to move on to from that, would it still be layers pellets? My Chicken books do not cover this and searches online haven’t been much help either Maybe should add, I’m not looking at fattening them up, just keeping as a pet. Beantree
Keep him on growers pellets Chick Chick. Layers pellets are formulated to give extra Calcium for egg shells, which isn't necessary for a cockerel and could be argued may be bad for him.
Patricia W
I have two cockerels. One is about 6 and the other is 2. Mine eat the same as their wives, ( reserving the best titbits for them as the true gentlemen they are). I’m not sure how I could feed them differently unless I separated them from the girls. And they wouldn’t like that.
Daphne
Agreed, my boys had layers once they'd grown up.
