ive done it and ordered a GREEN CUBE!!!!!! YEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking about this every day for ages and i have finally done it and just ordered a green cube. they had some reconditioned ones so it was cheaper AND will be here on the 19th sept!!! :D:D

i am really delighted, i just couldnt find a place to store the runs for the eglus and i wanted to cut the eglus into the run so now i wont be messing around trying to repare mesh if i changed to a cube later and had to cut a hole in higher up.

i know i was going to wait for the rush to die down etc....but i just couldnt wait :oops::oops::oops:

counting the days now.....yipeeeee :lol::lol::D:D

i spoke to a really nice lady at omlet who lives in a windmill, now there cant be alot of people who have windmills and i have only met a few other owners so its nice to talk about them especially as she lives in hers and ours has only just got the floors laid, with no windows or doors and a leaking roof!!

i didnt think they would have any, i just phoned them to see what the wait would be if i ordered one now and just happened to ask if they had a any reconditioned ones and they said they had some green reconditioned ones. i didnt need the run so they said i could order one without the run and i would get it alot quicker (and cheaper :D:D )

i must admit it is alot cheaper to get one without the run and to build your own run, but you already have a big run ladylucan, go on call them....you know you want to..... :twisted::twisted:

snowy i have added some silkie photos to my album for you and there is a photo of my garden somewhere on there with the windmill in the background. it doesnt have a dome or sails anymore and is a bit of a mess but hubbie is doing it when he has a bit of spare time (and he doesnt get much of that) we still have the workings and the stones, although the stones had to be removed before they could replace the boards because they were rotten. we are going to make it into a holiday home eventually to try to get it to pay for itself and of course i will be giving the people staying in it some fresh eggs :D

What fab news!

We have not regreted going straight for a cube and like you said the price of them seems fairly reasonable if you are buying them without the run attachments.

We were intending on putting it in the run - but even though you know the measurements you just can't anticipate how huge they are, or how much room you need around them - needing access to both sides and the back to slide the trays out etc.

So the first weekend we brought the cube out of the run and cut a hole in the mesh - easier than I thought although definately not advised if you have a hangover :)

What are you going to do with your eglus? More chickens perhaps? :wink::D

oh we live in the mill house at the moment as the windmill would be rather drafty with it having no windows or doors, the kids would love it though. it will be great for fireworks night sitting at the top looking out although next door did aim them at the windmill last year so could be a tad dangerous if they are around. i did get a bit angry as they could have caused a fire.
