Leicester_H
Hi Are there any easily available (ie from big high street Newagents on a casual basis) magizines that people would recommend to read from time to time about chooks / suburban green life ? Guest
You can buy Practical poultry from WH Smith - that's a pretty good read, and covers all aspects of chicken keeping, from hatching to illness and parasites etc. Grow Your Own is a good 'all-rounder', and has articles about chickens, as well as cooking and, of course, growing veggies and fruit. It too is for sale at WH smith, and most other newsagents I've been into.

It has articles about lots of farm animals, growing crops and buying tractors It also available from WHS.
Hen Watch
I buy Practical Poultry too. But I subcribed online and get it posted to my home every month. Get 12 issues for price of 11 or something like that, post is free. http://www.practicalpoultry.co.uk
bangers
For some reason my local WHSmith stopped getting Practical Poultry in as I had to On-line order it with a 12 month subscription. I will be renewing my subscription too, I think its a good read.

sal
I really like Grow Your Own as it has a good mix of articles about growing fruit and veg, preserving, nutrition, as well as the occasional chicken article. Also the ads are v useful - I wanted some supplies for preserving, and since all the little hardware stores round here seem to have disappeared, I was v glad to see an ad from Wares of Knutsford, a proper old fashioned hardware store online - I got everythign I needed, and the service was excellent. I'll look out for Practical Poultry
