Footie thread is here now...

Whew! - what a match last night was! And what a nightmare journey home we had (didn't get to bed til well gone 1am *yawn!) Ended up getting a taxi accross central London part of the way cos the tube trains were so rubbish - i saw Buckingham Palace at night :D (the lights were off - Her Maj. had obviously had an early night...) Met some nice chatty gooners on the train home though!

To be fair after being amazing the 1st half hour we were pretty rubbish the rest of the game and a draw was probably a fair result. (Thanks for the 'oh so encouraging' texts Martin!:wink: ) So looks like we have a lot of hard work to do in the 2nd leg if we want to meet Everton  in the final... Come on "Ooops, word censored!"nal reserves!

Bet your travelling companion loved all that! Sorry I couldn't make it, but probably wouldn't have been the best experience anyway! Still, I reckon we can make the final - Spurs are still oozing dodginess...

So then, do any of your clubs have any decent famous fans?

Jasper Carrot and Matt Lucas don't really count. ( Emma and Helen)

I mean real famous people.

Like the Prince of England....

..or the Prince of Darkness....

If you had seen the interview on Midlands Today he said:

' A while back I was over in London and we were watching the football on the tv set, Aston Villa seemed such a nice name, like a nice cosy spa, I also liked the colours so from then on it was Aston Villa for me.'

Official: He has been invited to a Villa match, which one I don't know.

Yep.

I am hoping that they bring him on the pitch and present him then they walk him out, I am right near the front. Should be able to get an autograph if he does.

I forgot my Autograph Book last week and Cappello was in the block above me! I was gutted!

Bolton have had few "celebrity fans"

most often mentioned are Peter Kaye (Amarillo fame), Vernon Kaye (him off T4), Emma Forbes (top TV presenter totty), Paul Nicholls (once famous as the northerner who went mad in Eastenders..)

and...

Kenneth Wolstenholm (as in the commentator who uttered those immortal words - "They think it's all over")

I'm inclined to despise celebrity football fans - that's the kind of thing that manU and ManS*itty have.... and media dahhhhhhhlings like West Ham and "Ooops, word censored!"nal (yes - I'm thinking of that prize **** Alan Davies... 8) )

what a totally poncy girly reason for supporting a team!! presumably that's why you're a Liverpool fan eh martin??

"A while back, I turned on Match of the Day and there was a soccer game on the television machine, and Liverpool had such lovely red shirts on - and such gorgeous curly permed locks, from that moment I was hooked and I have supported Liverpool ever since" said Martin when interviewed on Midlands Today....

Now come on you lot...

I won't go into naming our tons of celebrity fans but what other club has had 2 films made in their honour?! 'The "Ooops, word censored!"nal Stadium mystery' made back when Phil was young and my all time fave 'Fever Pitch' - Just the best film ever (and even if it was about another team and didn't have Colin Firth in, it would still be very good and funny...)

Anelka's gone - for £14/15 - depending on who u believe..

hope you look after him Chelse.. is a dilemma now whether to keep him in my fantasy team - will Chelsea use him as well as we did????

still - bought him for £8m - sold him for £15m - is a handy bit of business in anyone's book..

now I guess we'll be lining up that big-money offer for Dean Windass...

Phil :(

Keep him in your fantasy team cause I'm sure Drogba and Kalou are off on international duties for a couple of weeks, plus Shevchenko still doesn't seem to be getting much sucsess, Annelka will probably play this weekend.

I thought Annelka recently signed a contract till 2011 with Bolton?

The 14/15 million pounds now needs to be spent on a 20+ goals a season man and quickly before Bolton get pulled into a relegation battle, I hadn't noticed that Bolton were only 3 points off the last relegation place!!

Not the most sensible time to sell a clubs top scorer.

G*ry M*gs*n and 15 million pounds = recipe for disaster.

yeah Drogba and Kalou have gone to the african cup of nations, Shevchenko has a knee injury apparently  . I reckon Anelka will definitely play as we have the spuds this weekend.

I reckon when Drogba and Anelka play up front together they will be ace! :D
