ajm200
Hi everyone, my girls are currently having the fine oyster shell that I use for the budgies as they are quite small and young - no sign of combs yet. Will they be OK with the large hen sized shell later or should I keep them in the fine stuff? The hen-sized grit that I had for my big girls is almost gone but the bits are larger than pellets so thinking it may be too big for Pekins Thanks

Lewis
Growers and younger birds don't need oystershell calcium as the calcium can affect their bone growth, they'd be fine without while they're just on crumb/growers but if you want to use something, get chick flint grit. Once they are laying they can have mixed grit with oystershell for calcium.
The Dogmother
If you feed grit that's too fine to full-sized birds, it will just pass through them.
