ajm200
The children just pointed out that a Hartleys Jelly pot holds approx 100g of pellets. Makes estimating feed amounts easy
ajm200
Thought the info might help those just starting out. Approx 3 pots to two laying chickens. Bit less while they are growing

So did I at first but we’ve seen Mr Ratty in the garden from time to time so now partially fill the grub with just a little more than they need. I’m gone and check it to ensure they don’t run out. They make a lot less mess when the grub partially full as they have to put their head further down. I empty it, bring it indoors and wash it at night. Used to bring it in partially full and top it up but the family moan about the smell of garlic and poultry spice. The neighbour’s garden is an undisturbed wilderness and an ideal place for rats to take up residence so really don’t want to encourage rats in any way. 😔 His gardening is done by chainsaw when the nettles, gorse, etc start to push our fences over Edited January 10, 2019 by ajm200

Patricia W
Yep. Bait boxes work. Thanks for the tip though, I think it’s useful to know how to measure for mixing Flubenvet into the pellets. Although it’s so much easier now to buy the premixed pellets.
