I can't believe it but just now I have just heard a heap of fire works go off. Luckily these were very far away so not so loud but this has now got me worrying that we are fast approaching bonfire night and soon they will be going off much closer.

 

Any ideas what to do for the girls - I am sure it will scare the pants off them

I read somewhere to bring them indoors but with 6 dogs sniffing around I think that might be even worse. I'm thinking possibly moving just the cube into the garage and putting on the radio. Or maybe I'd get away with plugging the radio in inside the shed and playing it but I'd probably get complaints from the neighbours and the chooks would still be scared.

If you think fireworks at this time is early try attending a conference meeting under the glare of a pretty Christmas tree like we did today!!!!!! Totally out of place and bizarre when October half term isn't even in sight yet.

Mine got used to them last year as we had an idiot neighbour who thought it a good idea to let them off at 1am. On a weekly basis it seemed. He is a guest of the Queen at the moment.

I work for a company that puts on firework displays and we're not allowed to fire them after 11pm, so if the organisers don't get themselves ready in time we either don't fire it or stop half way through when it gets to 11 - it's against the law to fire after 11pm unless it's nov 5th, new years, diwali and chinese new year

well it was our neighbours bday they other week and he started to let them off less then 10ft away

 

luckly the girls are fine! egg production has slowed but that could be the weather!!

I hate fireworks now. Not sure if it is since I had dogs and hens since they all hate them. When I was younger I am sure I enjoyed them.

I remember them being pretty and colourful. Is it me or do all the fireworks now seem like great big bangers!? It is like we are being bombed or something, I hate it.

My yoga teacher suggested using rescue remedy in the dogs' water. This actually helped a lot last year. Not sure whehter it would help the chickens. I have only just thought about it. I don't see why not!?
