Hrcrow
Hello all, I am brand new to this forum. If I am posting this in the wrong spot, please forgive me and point me in the right direction. My kids and I hatched chicken eggs 7 weeks ago as their science project. I bought the Omlet Eglu 10 chicken “house”. I moved my chicks out of my house and into the garage with a heat source at 4 weeks. I closed off the house and they stayed in the bottom. At 5 weeks I opened the top and they naturally go I at night all by themselves. They are now 7.5 weeks. I am wondering do I now put in the roosting rack instead of letting them just sleep in the slide out poop catcher. I have been changing out their wood shavings daily and making it nice and cozy. I also have the nesting area closed off. So should I open the nesting area and put the roosting rack in. Thanks for any tips.
mullethunter
I can’t remember for sure but I think 6 weeks is perch age so yes I’d put the bars back in now. Keep the nest box shut though because if you open it they’ll end up sleeping in there because it’s more like what they’re used to. They won’t be laying for a while yet.
