Melting Chocolate - Anyone had this happen?

Recommended Posts

Just made lovely lovely lovely chocolate cake - it's in the oven cooking as I type. Has Sainsbury 70% plain chocolate melted into it. Absolutely fine.

The problem came when I just tried to make the chocolate filling. 2 bars of Lindt 70% chocolate broken up into a bowl over warm water. I haven't a clue what's happened to it but it looks like caviar!!! Abolutely revolting and rubbery. Definitely didn't burn it cos water was on a low heat. Off out to shops now to buy some bournville.

Anyone got any ideas what's gone wrong? I won't be using Lindt again that's for sure.

That's really strange then as the recipe called for 2tbsp of water to be added. The other chocolate from Sainsbury's which went into the cake was 70% and had 3tbsp water added but that was fine. Very strange

Anyway I popped out and got 2 blocks of Bournville 60% and it's fine.

Just waiting for it all to cool down and then I can put it all together - yummy :D

ooh it was horrid. All I kept thinking was fish eggs urgh

Never mind I made up for it - chocolate cake with cream & chocolate mousse filling. I was running out of time in the end as I had to run out and get more chcocolate so just slapped the cream around the side but my god it was nice

I would post a piccie but I can never work out how to do it.
