Egluntyne
Fantastic site. Lovely recipes. Not sure about the word "Respectful" though....a bit naff somehow....it made me hesitate to click the link as I thought it was going to be something horribly fluffy and cuddly. I was pleasantly surprised. Chick cam wouldn't load though so they must be experiencing adverse weather.
Tessa the Duchess
Maybe I'm just old and cynical but I wouldn't entirely trust anything that is to do with Walmart. Asda is on my boycott list. Walmart has a terrible reputation for bad staff conditions, pay, holidays etc., it sells cheap because most of its products, not food, are sourced from cheap labour from abroad, and Walmart has ripped the heart out of many American small towns by building mega stores and pushing small, often familly, business out. If you get the chance get the DVD 'The High Cost of Low Prices' t'will put you off shopping at Asda for ever. How do they sell 'freerange' eggs for the same price as battery hen eggs, doesn't make economic sense, unless they are doing it as a loss leader so they look 'green' and 'good'. I suppose the best I can say is, it is a step in the right direction. Tessa
buffie
At BHWT we support any positive free range egg messages. It shows the public concern and support is there and it's another step towards hens from cages. You don't have to be an Asda fan Just support the general message BBx
puffball
The chick cam wouldn't load for me either... you don't think they have CONSTANT adverse weather do you? It looks a bit suspicious to me nah, I'm just kidding! I'm sure their hens are perfectly free-range and happy
Guest
I wouldn't shop at Asda if you paid me but nothing against them - I just prefer Waitrose. This site is good though. I was explaining the plight of the battery hens yet again today Buffie - whenever I use my BHWT jute bag in school kids ask me about it. I would like to arrange to go on a resuce soon too as I think a first hand view would help me to further the cause in my ICT lessons! As it happens there is one on 17th November (I can't make it, but Helen is going..) they are a friendly bunch.. Phil
