Lolly
Good morning. I have a chicken who, for the last couple of days, has been very unsteady on her feet. She is eating and drinking but doesn't seem to have any strength in her legs. I have tried manipulating her legs to see if perhaps one has been injured but they seem very flexible and no squawking. If I put her on the floor, she slowly lowers to the ground and stays there. Any ideas??? Thank you so much.
Beantree
I've read that ducks go off their legs when they have a heavy worm burden, but whether that can be applied to chickens I don't know? When was she last wormed with Flubenvet? Perhaps she is going broody? Is she laying?
Lolly
I started worming on Wednesday but she hasn't eaten any of the pellets. I don't think she's broody, I've had broody hens before and this is very different.
mullethunter
How old is she? If you think she needs working but she isn’t eating pellets you could try getting some of the powder and putting it on something she will eat (some people use grapes). Sounds like she might need to see a vet though if she can’t stand and she’s not eating.
