Cate in NZ
I got home from work a couple of hours ago, and found myself paddling in our conservatory . There's a new roof on there which we know is water tight, the washing machine was empty, and no signs of any water source, except that one of the windows was very, very slightly ajar. I think that all that horrendous downpour yesterday and today must have worked its way through that very tiny gap. It seems impossible but it seems to be the only explanation . Luckily no real damage done, just quite a lot of work in mopping up, but daughter will be furious, she left her school science books (exercise book & text book) in there because she was revising over the weekend, and they're both sodden and badly damaged. I guess my next log on is to Amazon.............see if I can replace the text book for her
Mrs Frugal
Oh dear, Kate ! It's amazing how far a bit of water can go, isn't it. Hope you can get a new text book and that her exercise book isn't too soggy! Good luck mopping up.
Snowy
Oh my goodness Kate! Hope it hasn't caused too much damage Just heard there is a severe weather warning for the south as well - hope you aren't going to be affected!

Mrs Frugal
Kate, just a thought, have you checked your conservatory roof panels? We had a flood and couldn't work out where it came from until we spotted that one of the roof panels had shifted ever so slightly. LSH had to go up onto the roof with some sealant once he'd fixed the panel back into place properly.

Ermmm, no..........and right now I'm not keen on going up there, too cold and dark for me, especially since I'm not sure what I'll be looking for . Sounds like a great tip though, it could be a possibility. Hubby's due home in an hour or so, I'll just go and change my dinner plans..........that man will do anything for a Spaghetti bolognaise, especially if I follow it up with a treacle tart Off to dig out the rolling pin and pastry board
Mrs Frugal
No, don't go up there, Kate!! Too risky!! I could see the sky though ours when I looked up inside the conservatory. Just a little tiny chink but enough to let rather a lot of water through.
