Jules.
When I visited my army friends when they were in Germany they always checked the underside of their car before getting in it. A bit scary to watch, actually.I'm glad they did so.
Couperman
My younger brother once made a tiny gaffe at the airport. He had a bullet on his keyring! It had been drilled out etc and put back in the shell casing and was drilled as a keyring. The guy at security said 'I am sorry Sir, but you can't take that on' Brother: 'Why?' Security: 'Because it's a bullet, Sir' Brother: 'But it's deactivated and I haven't got a gun' Security: 'Empty your bag please, Sir' After the search he was allowed to board minus his bullet! He even said as they took it off him 'It's OK i've got loads at home' I couldn't believe it when he told me I bet special branch have their eye on him! It should definately go on the list of things you should not say to airport security! Number 1 is 'I've got a bomb in my bag, he,he,ha' people never find it quite so funny when they are arrested and dragged off at gunpoint. Kev. chelsea
I had one passenger get terribly upset with me (tears) when she wasnt allowed her christmas crackers on the aircraft. They were homemade bless her for her grandkids in Spain, and the crackers caused a whole hoo-haa at the airport and we had to check with several different people/depts before we could get a definite answer. You see - even the simplest, smallest things you wouldnt really think would be a problem are!
FORENSICA
The same happened to us with the Christmas crackers about 3 years ago...to be honest I could not believe that that would cause a trouble..We pulled the explosive part out from all 24 in front of the check-in person and then we could take them with us I flew once with a massive hair clip in my hair - it is about 15cm with very sharp end, slim and tweezers like mechanism made from some metal- completely unnoticed.. when I realized on the plane, I was quite shocked that this kind of thing was allowed.
