The Dogmother
I am going to collect (soon) a 20kg sack of the new organic pellets that Omlet are selling, but I won't be able to get through all that sack before it reaches its best before date, and I don't have anywhere to store such a large amount. Does anyone in the Oxfordshire area want to buy half the sack from me? Clare*, how about you? PM/e mail me if you are interested.
buffie
Hope you find someone Clare, I won't be going back to pellets as my big girls will get a bit bored if they aren't free ranging for the winter, although may change brand. I don't suppose my new additions will eat that much but I bought boxes to store corn and mash in so it's storing ok in the shed. Good luck with the bag share and it makes snese as it also goes out of date. BBx
Guest
What happens if pellets go past their use-by date?
Lesley-Jean
Nothing dramatic as long as it is not years They lose some of their nutritional value eg vitamins but if you are giving some fresh veg / food supliment to make sure they are getting them then as long as they look and smell ok they should be ok
The Dogmother
What happens if pellets go past their use-by date? They are supposed to lose their nutritional value. I don't have anywhere to store a whole large bag - the utility room is crammed full and there's no room in the shed either I am getting a bit fed up with the mess that my girls make with the mash. I got Allen and Page to send me a sample of the pellets as my girls find that some are too big for their delicate banty beaks. These ones are nice and small and they wolf them down. clare*
Clare you must have been reading my mind. I was planning on making a trip perhaps Thursday afternoon. I've nearly run out, I was only thinking this morning it would be better if they sold half the weight. I'll pm you
