Egluntyne
I find certain posting styles irritating. They are hard to read and make any forum look untidy. The one I hate most of all....and it is difficult to cope with is the one . . . . . . .with . . . . . . . unnecessarily large gaps . . . . . . . . . between words. . . . . . . . It really gets on my pip. . . . . . . . It is really difficult to read.

Guest
Poet - if you want the font larger you can aways change your screen resolution. I tried that once and totally messed it up and couldn't get it back to normal again so now I don't do 'techy' stuff

Geoid
if you just want to make the text on your browser bigger press CRTL and the UP key. To make it smaller press the DOWN key instead
Gallina
That didn't work with Firefox, but then I discovered holding down the Control key and hitting + twice and that worked beautifully with this forum.
Popcorn
What an interesting thread. I'm mildly dyslexic and I find all the things that have been mentioned on here do make it difficult to read text. The best thing by far is to make short paragraphs. It immediatly puts your mind at rest when you see lots of words separated out into small groups. It takes me ages to read a big lump of text as I often have to go over the line a few times to get it right in my head then I get all mixed up. I also found Snowy's text really easier to read - not the blue though, prefered black. I'd agree with all the advice Gallina and I think you can meet each other half way (if you want to that is, after such a big demand on the whole of the forum and it's members!) Guest
Dyslexia is an unfortunate affliction BUT people need to find ways to manage. Everybody can't change the way they do things to suit a small minority, most of whom will find that there are good ways to manage their condition, such as Fred has suggested. One of my tutor group whom I also teach is severely dyslexic and I don't tailor any handouts specifically for him but if he has trouble he comes to ask. When he hands work in I just circle the mistakes and give it back to him as I know proof reading is not a skill he has. I never tell him off UNLESS he has actually failed to use the spell-checker first. He will soon be out in the world of work where people will make less allowances for him so he fully understands the importance of using the tools at his disposal fully to compensate for his problem. Guest
I do tend to break text up into short paragraphs as I write, as I find it easier to read like that. If something is written in long blocks of text then it actually makes me feel sick trying to read it, you know, like 'reading in the car' sort of sick. Does that make sense or is it just me that feels ill when trying to read in the car? I don't think I'm dyslexic though. I think it's a word bandied around far too often to be honest but I do feel sorry for those genuinely afflicted.
Guest
by the way, I have trouble telling left from right quite a lot of the time, I believe that's one of the symptoms of dyslexia (maybe someone could verify that) it's also the reason I failed my first driving test! I wrote a poem about it once, I had to write the words on paper and then cut the words up into letters or I wouldn't have been able to see which letter went where and it took me ages to do it, here it is anyway..... "Can you Tell?" left right leftright lefrtight lerfitght lreifgtht rliegfhtt rilgehftt riglhetft righlteft rightleft right left sometimes I can't © 2004 **************************** the word 'right' is moving left, letter by letter and the word 'left' is moving right letter by letter and the words obviously merge as they cross each other. I thought it was a good way to portray they way some dyslexic people see words on the page. I was reasearching dyslexia on the net when I wrote it but then someone came along and told me that it's not a symptom of dyslexia but there's a lot on the net that says it is!?
