Leptospirosis - Alert

Recommended Posts

It strikes me that if the top of the can is dirty (and it probably is) then pouring the contents into a glass will contaminate the drink anyway and particularly, as Lesley pointed out, as the tab goes inside to can.

I don't drink fizzy drinks at all! :D:D

Yes Louise :!: It is something we should all be aware of if we have been near fresh water, even your garden pond can have been contaminated be rats. I will rinse cans before I open them now. Especially if they are not to be thououghly heated like baked beans as this contamination could apply to any cans or bottles, not just drink cans. Having said all of this though I would not like anyone to become obsessed with the risk :!:

Nor me..... one mouthful = two burps - I can't swallow the stuff :?

 Very ladylike Lesley

I've only just caught up with this thread, and I have always had a bit of a thing for germs, probably too much to be honest. I'm always washing my hands

Working in a pub for a few years myself opened my eyes too, although I never gave rats a second thought. I've never drank fizzy pop, but I used to be so paraniod about bottled stuff purely because the guys handling them always grip them round them around the neck - where you drink from. Put me right off.

The other thing I never used to do was eat the bottom bit of the cone from the icecream man where he used to hold it. I always used to notice he had dirt under his finger nails - ugh :|
