joandcherry
I am new to chickens, other than housesitting for some recently! I have a few questions please if you don't mind answering. I am planning to buy land though in the meantime, would like to get a couple of bantams for my very small garden. The problem is I don't have grass, just concrete slabs. I wonder if you could advise if this would be suitable, and how I can provide the necessary environment for them?
Cat tails
Hardly anyone who has chickens has grass… I certainly don’t as they will demolish it very soon, unless you have a very large lawn. My bantams are partially on slabs, partially on soil. I cover the slabs with wood chips. You would only need to provide a largish container with soil/sand for dustbath.
Luvachicken
I agree with @Cat tails Pop a nice deep layer of hard wood woodchips over the concrete. Make sure they have a nice waterproof roof covering to help keep them dry. Give them plenty of things to keep them entertained - mine have wooden mushrooms to sit on, a couple of children's benches and a Jungle Gym from Flyte So Fancy.
