Ain't Nobody Here
Can someone who uses one of these tell me if they chop/cut up the food they put in the bin? I have been "shredding" bread crusts and other leftovers when necessary but wondered if it actually matters? Does it just speed up the fermentation process? It would be much easier to be able to just chuck everything in regardless of shape/size.
ali-s
I just throw it all in, cover with the bran and squash it all down using a potato masher.

chrisnrob
I just throw it all in, cover with the bran and squash it all down using a potato masher. Exactly the same as we do here Rob
Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks all . I'll just be chucking it all in from here on in . (Must check on my first ever full bin tomorrow - it's been a few weeks!)
Trish
I have two bins on the go, one to fill and one standing. I just throw anything in the one bin till it's full then leave it to stand while the other fills. If it's less than the recommended time I don't really worry it all goes on the compost heap with the chicken poo etc and I've never seen the compost form so quick. Even now in the middle of winter it's really going well.
