Egluntyne
Is there a recipe?
Mrs Frugal
No, I couldn't find one so made it up myself. I just filled an empty cider flagon with halved crab apples, added half a pound of sugar and filled it up with brandy. A large kilner jar would be fine. I shook the bottle daily for a fortnight then left it to sit for a few months. It's divine! I gave my parents a bottle of it for Christmas and had a very tipsy email thanking me for it after they'd sampled some . Next year, I'm going to make spiced crab apple brandy by adding some cinnamon sticks, star anise and cloves
Egluntyne
I might give it a whirl. Pity it hasn't got an egg on it otherwise it could have gone in the Cookbook.
craftyhunnypie
Right that's it! New year resolution!!!! Sort out my craft house in the garden, so I can invite fellow crafty Omleteers over for a craft day with lunch & afternoon tea!!!! That would be my perfect day! I've got so much craft stuff & the perfect little craft house to craft away in, it would seem the most sensible thing to do.....share my stuff & ideas!!!! You've given me some inspiration here! ubereglu
Sounds like a good plan Emma, if I can possibly make it I'll try. I have lots of crafting things and can't wait until the christmas cards get taken down so I can cut up the old ones to make this year's cards out of!!! ali-s
Well done on your first card Eglutine I have taken over an old desk in the spare room (now called the craft room ). It is already full of cardmaking things. I bought a guillotine today from Lidl, so I can cut card smoothly. I don't know if I dare use it I will have to see if there are any craft groups in my area. Thanks. Is there a Hobbycraft near you. If you rummage through their website you might find details of demonstrations/lessons locally. That is how I found about the lady near me. I know her vaguely through a friend as it happens, too!!

Mrs Frugal
Alison, if it is the same one I've got, it cuts card and paper really nicely. I'm really pleased with mine. I've got an X-cut one too which is good for detailed cutting.

Egluntyne
I took the Christmas cards down this aft and as I had a good look at them I realised that there were lots of bits that I could re-use to make other cards or gift tags. Sparkly bits, interesting shapes and coloured and textured card, ribbons and bits of wire and jewels I can see that my house is going to be overtaken by boxes and boxes of "stuff". Lesley
Oh yes!!! you'll need some boxes for your 'stuff' I got the guillotine out the other day with Lauren and Jake so that we could cut up the Christmas cards - they make good gift tags as well. some cards can be recycled almost whole - just buy the blanks with the front that makes a frame and insert the front of the recycled card.......
