Chicken’s won’t sleep in the coop since purchase of perch tree

Recommended Posts

Last Christmas I bought a perch tree for the walk in run. Ever since my ladies have been sleeping on the perch tree and only go in the coop to lay eggs.

I’m worried that they will freeze if they are not shut in the coop when temperatures are below freezing.

should I make them go in the coop or are they fine outside

Mine are the same. They haven’t slept in the igloo since last year but the perches on the tree are only long enough for 2 girls.  As it has been so cold I put the 3rd girl in the coop in case she was too cold but she wouldn’t stay there and went back to her perch.
I guess feathers are warmer!
