What a good idea! I was looking for something to make a crunchy yogurt . Thought I could use Dorset Cereals too. Pengy, I know where you're coming from . Keep up the good work - you are obviously bursting with willpower rather than calories these days!
Lesley
That's a really great change in just a week ANH The only further change I would suggest is that it isn't really necessary to have the equivalent of a 'normal' bag of crisps - I always put less, just as a taster............ and the weighing out is very good as a maths lesson...... Pengy - we can tell how well you are coping and how your attitudes are changing by the way you speak about food. A lot of your previous 'anger' seems to be going
Guest
Homemade Cornish pasties when made right are out of this world!! Try making a tray of smaller one's which can be kept in an air tight container in the fridge and packed in lunch boxes. (Stay away from the awful ginsters rubbish). Then give them a nice rock bun/cake for desert and maybe some fruit. Proper job me handsome!

chickencam
I agree with the cornish pasties I hate shop ones but home-made mmmmmmmmm. We use beef skirt chopped small onion, potato, carrot, swede and salt and pepper. We also have one of those folding pasty maker things which folds and seals them really well. I think ours came from the charity shop but places like betterware, kleeneze and lakeland might have them. We have klip-it lunch cubes which have a seperate section for sandwiches ,crisps and cake and we share a normal size packet of crisps between 2 people

Recipe please! lol I knew someone would ask that!! I have a family recipe that has been passed down for generations and it makes the whole lot from scratch (including the pastry). The end pasty is mouthwatering and amazing, just the right texture and flakyness - well worth the effort (preparing and cooking time). I will try and dig it out of my recipe book when I go home... I was going to try and give a rough guide from what I remember but here is a link to another website which probably puts it better than I could: http://www.waitrose.com/recipe/Cornish_Pasties.aspx just remember these important steps: 1) Always season each layer with a small amount of salt and pepper (white or black) 2) Always put a couple of small k"Ooops, word censored!"s of butter on the top layer - this will provide the juice and keep the pasty moist. 3) Always glaze the pastry with either milk or a beaten egg to stop the pastry from drying out and give it a nice golden colour 4) Don't be afriad to try variations from the traditional beef skirt. Try mince beef, steak & stilton etc. 5) Have fun! Edited January 14, 2008 by Guest

Guest
my MIL makes them with puff pastry and the filling is corned beef hash with carrots. They're always lovely. I need to make a big batch for the freezer.

Buy bigger bags of crisps - MY FAVOURITE SIZE, tip them all into a bowl and eat as an evening snack, saves opening 4 or 5 piddly little bags. Cheese Straws - use half a packet of pastry, loads of cheese - EAT THEM HOT with salt - stop when all gone, under no circumstances stop when feeling full - finish them all so you feel bloated and slightly sick. Savoury Cheese Biscuits - EAT THE PACKET when you have no big bags of crisps left. OK now hands up anyone who still wonders how I got to be over 20 stone??? I feel like this some nights. Things call me from the cupbord. I try and put my hands over my ears but they just shout louder.
