Laura007
i work with lots of paople but there are only a couple of us that are watching the games. is anyone here watching them?? i really like sport and think its great that there are 2 weeks of sport on the tv that is NOT football. we just got a silver medal in the ladies skeleton run and i reckon it deserves a mention in the papers tomorrow, but i bet there is a postage size article just like the past week, but 10 pages of YAWN football. we stand a good chance of a gold in the mens skeleton aswell. so good luck to all the british athletes out in italy. whine over. Lesley
I'm watching it - I love the speed skating, luge, bobsleigh, curling and the ski jump and downhill. It keeps me quiet
Cate in NZ
I'm watching too, love it Did anyone else see the snowboarding on Sunday morning- the things those lads were doing Absolutely incredible, especially the guy that won..... The Flying Tomato Love the Alpine skiing events, less keen on Nordic, ice skating, although speed skating terrifies me, I keep imagining falls and terrible injuries and bobsleigh, skeleton & Luge. Mel (& Paul)
Do you think the woman who got the silver knows AnnieP - they both live in Pewsey and Annie is a head teacher and the woman (sorry, name escapes me!) is a teacher - do you reckon AnnieP, her chooks and her donkeys were cheering her on in the pub
Cate in NZ
I noticed the Pewsey connection today too Mel, and found myself wondering exactly the same thing. Pity Annie hasn't been around for ages, I think she was hoping her building work would be finished in mid-January sometime, I wonder if it's finished, and if she's managed to move back home yet Hey, Annie, it's about time you came back, we're missing you
Sheilaz
Great fun to watch...wouldn't like to take part! Did anyone see the snowboarding a couple of days ago, when the commentator nearly exploded with excitement & disbelief? It was the funniest thing I've seen for ages... First, one of the favourites trapped their board under the board in front, which unbalanced them. Then someone crashed though the fence, and it was all like that until the last 2 competitors, out of about 6, left standing were near the finish... The clear favourite was way in the lead, with just one underdog carefully following. The leader did a victory wave and symbollically touched her board...and fell over! The lesser known person took the GOLD medal admidst very spectators. I still can't stop laughing!
SarahJo
... I was laughing with you Sheila. It was the womens Snowboard Cross event ... and the American girl tried to show off on the last ramp, 100yds before the finish ... and totally LOST her Gold medal. I liked the Skating too ..... that poor Chinese girl who fell in the last round ... but carried on, and they took Silver. .
Popcorn
Love all the winter olympics. Did anyone see the cross country relay skiing yesterday morning? It was fab. Total blizzards of snow, and the French were well in the lead, when he went the wrong way off course! Poor chap - everyone overtook him and he ended up at the bottom of the pile! the Italians won
