Neighbour making formal noise complaint.

Hello l have a call duck sitting on eggs and want to know what the duckings eat as was told not to give the mum chick food because it gets up the nose.?????? please help im scared they will starve

We use the Allen and Page growers pellets, which are quite small. Our ducklings were fine with those.

the reason you don't give chick crumb to ducklings is the antibiotics in it

Ducklings eat more than chicks so are likely to get too much antibiotic which is bad for them.

Un medicated chick crumb is fine but I have found it hard to get.

You could put growers pellets in a grinder as long as that is unmedicated (I am sure I read somewhere about growers having antibiotics in it)

 

Its mash that blocks the nostrils ,

Always make sure the babies have water to drink and dunk their bills in, after a few days you can start gradually moving the water away from the food to avoid all that mushy mess they make when they mix the two.

I gave my ducklings unmedicated chick crumb, then onto growers pellets at about 3/4 weeks (they were in with 7 week old chicks that were going onto growers at the same time).

I know geese get something called angel wing if they are fed too much protein too early, not sure if it's the same for ducks.

I assume growers is high in protein.

Gonna have to spend a couple of hours re aquainting myself with feeding programs
