Storms and chickens

My cube arrives this Wednesday (yay, can't wait) along with a Gingernut Ranger and a Miss Pepperpot.

 

Then the next day, Thursday I pick up a Light Sussex, a Buff Sussex and a Barnvelder from a breeder.

 

Will it be ok for me to put Thursdays birds straight into the cube run on Thursday even though the first two arrived the day before?

Sounds as if they will be fine as they won't have had time to settle in yet! I'm sure someone with mroe experience will be along in a mo.

That's what I'm hoping (fingers crossed), that they will all be fine apart from going through the pecking order thing.

There might be the odd skirmish as they sort out the pecking order, but as they are all in a new situation and are quite young it shouldn't be so bad.

I'll be taking LOADS of pics, I do s"Ooops, word censored!"booking and take pictures of everything anyway.

The only problem will be learning to put them on here.

They should be fine, its not like your original hens will be established anyway.

Hi There,

 

My hen's have not arrived yet either and I had the same question earlier on today with a breeder. He advised not to keep the birds in the same pen, till they have looked at each other for a few days (about a week) through some netting!!! I said I did not have two houses and would be unable to do that, he did not look impressed!

 

I will be interested to see what others have to say on this topic. Good question!
