Chooks Aloud
Sold my first eggs yesterday at work. I decorated my boxes very simply by cutting some black card to make a label, hole punched with pink ribbon to tie round the box. I am into card making so punched a chicken shape out of the card and wrote a lovely message in silver and signed it from all my chooks. Where the chicken was punched out, and being black card, it made a silhouette on the box, and the bit that I punched out I keep and stick on the back of my handmade cards as my signature. Nothing gets wasted in my house! Karen

Chooks Aloud
Well, as you can probably tell by my signature or should I say lack of it, I'm hopeless at doing things on the computer photos etc. Hubby says he will put an avitar/pictures etc on for me, but it's getting the time. Everyone who received them went aaarhh when they saw it was from the chooks. Karen
Chooks Aloud
Oh, hello Pam - sorry I've just noticed it was you. Hopefully you will see this and be able to answer it for me. The wormery is going well but am I doing something wrong as quite a lot of water builds up and comes out of the tap. Where should I put the matting? I've got it at the bottom of the first layer and then put the composting stuff on top. Is this right? Karen

Karen Hi Karen The matting goes on the top of the top layer, over the top of the worms, compost and stuff you are adding. It's designed to keep the worms and compost and stuff you put in the wormery, warm :D Just lift it up each time you add more stuff - over time the matting will degrade and you will need to replace it (costs about £5 for 2 from wiggly) It there has been a lot of rain (which there has), the rain drains through the wormery into the well at the bottom and will need draining off Hope that helps - if you need anymore info, just ask :D
Chooks Aloud
Thanks Pam I've been doing it wrong, I put the matting at the bottom (silly me). I'll go and change it round. Do you put a layer of paper at the bottom and then put the worms/compost on top with the mat on top of that? Karen
hillfamily
Hi Karen No need to put anything at the bottom of the tray - just worms and stuff your composting and then the matting layer. The holes are there to allow the worms to travel between the trays when you add the next tray. You may find one or two drop into the liquid well at the bottom but that's OK
