The worst has finally happened

Recommended Posts

:( Sorry to read the news Helen. My Mum died 9 years ago ... after chemo etc, and was ready and peaceful in a hospice. My main piece of advice is ... if you can, spend as much time as possible with her, and try not to have any "I wish I had said that" moments ..... she will take great comfort in having her family and friends around her.

In the meantime .... try and be good to yourself.

Love and hugs ...

Just adding my best wishes. We went through the same thing with my Nana and I couldn't fault the Macmillan nurses, they were so supportive and there for us all, they really did help us make it the best experience it could be, if you get my meaning. Cyber hugs to you and yours

Best wishes to you Helen. OH lost his Dad in January after 18 months of fighting. It just so knocks the wind out of your sails and makes you angry for their suffering doesn't it?

Look after yourself and try to make time to see your Mum. Just being with her is very special. We were 200 miles away and it was really hard. Try to think of memories and laughs you have had and share them with her.... Tell her all the things you will remember about her.

She will be so well cared for, please don't worry about that. Just concentrate on yourself and letting her know how loved she is.

Big hugs.

OK. So.

I've been avoiding this posting for the past few days but as I started this thread I ought to finish it.

My mother died on Friday, just before 9pm. She was at home and my father and I and one of my brothers were wtih her. Despite all the suffering before the death was actually very peaceful and I feel priviledged to have been allowed to be with her and hold her hand through it.

Please don't post any messages of sympathy, as I am holding together ok as long as no one gets sympathetic. I know you will all be thinking of me and mine at this time.

Right.

Thread closed, normal service now resumed. :)
